Evan Hill and Jack Crosbie are two journalists who came of age after the 9/11 attacks and have spent most of their careers reporting about the conflicts that followed. In Schlock and Awe, they set out to answer the question: What’s the 9/11 generation’s defining war movie? From All Quiet on the Western Front, to Saving Private Ryan to Platoon, each generation seems to get one. But the filmed era of the Global War on Terror has been characterized by audience apathy and, well, schlock. Evan and Jack will dive deep into this cinematic black site, watching everything from the atrocious, the bad, to the possibly somewhat decent, using their experience and expert guests to critique how these movies shaped our understanding of the era.
